Sergio Busquets returns to Barcelona to work with Ghanaian duo at Barca Atletic

Sergio Busquets has begun his coaching career at Barca Atletic, where he will work with Ghanaian youngsters Abdul Aziz Issah and David Oduro.

Sergio Busquets has returned to Barcelona to begin his coaching career and will work with Ghanaian youngsters Abdul Aziz Issah and David Oduro at Barca Atletic. The former midfielder has joined Juliano Belletti’s coaching staff while he completes his coaching course.

Busquets, 38, will be involved with Barcelona’s reserve team as he moves from a celebrated playing career into coaching. His role places him alongside players trying to progress into senior European football, including Issah and Oduro.

Issah is a Ghana international forward who moved to Barcelona’s reserve side from Dreams FC. Oduro, a left-back, joined the Catalan club from Accra Lions. Both remain part of the Barca Atletic setup as they work towards establishing themselves at the club.

The Ghanaian pair will now have access to the experience of a player who spent 15 seasons in Barcelona’s first team. Busquets made 722 appearances for the club, operating mainly as a deep-lying midfielder during one of the most successful eras in its history.

His honours with Barcelona include nine LaLiga titles and three Champions League trophies. He also represented Spain, giving him experience at both international level and in the highest stages of European club football. That background adds a significant technical reference point for Issah and Oduro as they develop.

Barcelona are listed 13th in the 2026 LaLiga standings with zero points from zero matches, while their recorded recent form is three wins and two defeats. Their next listed fixture is away to Elche on August 23, but Busquets’ immediate focus is his new work with the reserve team and its young players.
