Southampton defender Calum Anderson signs three-year deal

Southampton defender Calum Anderson has signed his first professional contract with the club. The agreement secures the academy player on a three-year deal.

Anderson joined the Saints in the summer of 2025. Before moving to the south coast of England, the Northern Ireland youth international had already made his senior appearance for his former club, Linfield.

At 17 years old, the defender has progressed through the club's youth ranks under the guidance of Andrew Surman. He has featured for the Under-18s and earned a debut for the Under-21s during his debut season at the club. His development has also seen him represent the Northern Ireland Under-19s side.

Andy Goldie, the club's Director of Group Talent Strategy, praised the player's conduct both on and off the field. Goldie described Anderson as an ultimate professional who maintains high standards and approaches every opportunity with maximum effort. He noted that the player's maturity resembles that of a veteran with over 100 professional appearances.

Goldie added that these attributes have supported his recent success within the Under-18 and Under-21 squads. The new three-year contract is intended to provide the defender with the necessary time to develop his game further.
