Southampton midfielder Moses Sesay joins Colchester on season-long loan

Southampton academy midfielder Moses Sesay has moved to League Two club Colchester United for a season-long loan after a productive 2025/26.

Southampton midfielder Moses Sesay has joined Colchester United on a season-long loan, beginning his first temporary move into senior football with the League Two club.

The 19-year-old has been part of Southampton’s academy since signing his scholarship contract in 2023. His move to Colchester follows a productive 2025/26 campaign with Southampton’s Under-21 side.

Sesay scored four goals and supplied three assists for the Under-21s during the season. The England youth international also made his first senior appearance for Southampton, coming on as a late substitute against Norwich City in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

That appearance remains his only senior outing listed in the supplied record, while the Colchester agreement gives him his first senior loan opportunity. He will now continue his development in League Two after making progress within Southampton’s academy setup.

Sesay’s recent campaign at Staplewood established the platform for the move. His attacking contribution for the Under-21s, together with his senior debut, preceded the decision to send him to Colchester for the full season.

The loan is scheduled to run for the entire campaign. Southampton will follow his progress at Colchester, where the midfielder will begin the next stage of his career after two years in the club’s academy system.
