Stormers XXIII beat Bulls 33-7 to stay in Currie Cup play-off hunt

Stormers XXIII beat the Bulls 33-7 in Currie Cup Round 6, a 26-point win that keeps them in the race for a place in the play-offs.

Stormers XXIII defeated the Bulls 33-7 in the Currie Cup on Friday, winning by 26 points. The Round 6 match was played on 21 August 2026.

The result keeps Stormers XXIII in the Currie Cup play-off hunt. Their advantage was clear on the scoreboard, with the Bulls managing seven points while Stormers XXIII reached 33.

The victory also strengthens Stormers XXIII’s recent run. Their five matches before this game produced two wins and three draws: a 2-1 result against Brisbane Roar, a 3-1 win over Macarthur FC, and draws against the Lions, Sydney and Central Coast Mariners.

Those results had already given Stormers XXIII an unbeaten sequence heading into Round 6. The 33-7 scoreline added their most emphatic result in that listed run and maintained their challenge for a play-off place.

The Bulls arrived with a less consistent set of five results. They drew 0-0 with Vanraure Hachinohe, lost 0-1 and 1-2 to Sanfrecce Hiroshima, beat Mito Hollyhock 3-1, and drew 1-1 with Machida Zelvia.

That sequence included one win, two draws and two defeats before the Currie Cup fixture. Against Stormers XXIII, the Bulls again failed to win and were beaten by a 26-point margin, leaving Stormers XXIII with the result they needed to remain in contention.
