Tresean Gore wins UFC 330 as judges score it 30-27, 30-27, 29-28

Tresean Gore defeated Vicente Luque by unanimous decision at UFC 330, with the judges scoring the middleweight bout 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28. The 32-year-old American completed three rounds at Philadelphia’s Xfinity Mobile Arena to make it two consecutive victories.

The result came despite a serious injury to Gore’s lower teeth, which was not immediately clear during the fight. Luque’s flying knee caused the damage, with Gore later showing during his post-fight interview that the bottom of his mouth had been badly affected.

Gore was speaking with Joe Rogan when the injury became visible. After Rogan drew attention to the condition of his lower teeth, Gore opened his mouth and displayed the damage before explaining that Luque’s knee had knocked some of his teeth out.

The winner made clear that the injury had not changed his view of the result. He indicated that the teeth could be repaired and dismissed the damage as something he would deal with after the fight. Gore also acknowledged that he might have a lisp while speaking because of the injury.

Luque created other major problems for Gore during the contest. The Brazilian secured a deep D’Arce choke, a submission position he has used to win several UFC fights, but Gore survived it and remained in the bout long enough to secure the judges’ decision.

The official scorecards made the victory appear more comfortable than the action suggested. Gore’s ability to finish the fight and earn a clear unanimous decision gave him a second straight win, while Luque’s flying knee left a lasting mark that only became apparent once Gore spoke after the contest.
