Twumasi named MOTM in AshantiGold's 2-0 X1 DOL Super Cup win

Frederick Twumasi was named Man of the Match after helping AshantiGold defeat Tamale City 2-0 in the X1 DOL Super Cup at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium. The midfielder scored the opening goal and played a central role in AshantiGold’s victory.

Twumasi broke the deadlock in the 36th minute, giving AshantiGold their first goal of the competition. His finish put the home side ahead before Tamale City could find a response.

Umar Farouq added AshantiGold’s second goal in the 89th minute. The late strike settled the match at 2-0 and completed the scoring for the Miners.

The individual award came despite AshantiGold’s early exit from the tournament. The club finished third in Group B with four points and was eliminated on goal difference, meaning the victory was not enough to secure progress from the group.

Tamale City had entered the match with an uneven recent record. Their previous five games included a 3-1 defeat by Debibi United, a 2-1 loss away to Northern City, a 2-2 draw against Sankara Nationals, a 2-1 defeat at Yapei and a 3-1 win over Wa Power.

Twumasi’s goal therefore carried added significance for AshantiGold’s campaign, as it was the club’s first in the X1 DOL Super Cup. Farouq’s late contribution completed the win, but the group standings left AshantiGold outside the qualifying places.
