UFC 330: Garry and Robertson fall by decisions, next fights in view
Ian Machado Garry and Gillian Robertson lost unanimous decisions at UFC 330, while Kaue Fernandes and Mansur Abdul-Malik also left with defeats.
UFC 330 featured a 12-fight card in Philadelphia, with four notable losers emerging from the event. Islam Makhachev retained the 170-pound title by unanimous decision over Ian Machado Garry, while Mackenzie Dern also kept her belt against Gillian Robertson.
Garry suffered only the second defeat of his 12-fight UFC career and is now 2-2 across his last four bouts, a run that began in December 2024. His other loss in that period came against Shavkat Rakhmonov, while victories over Carlos Prates and Belal Muhammad had moved him back towards the top of the welterweight division.
The clearest option for Garry would be the loser of Sean Brady versus Gabriel Bonfim, scheduled for November 7. Brady holds a 9-2 UFC record and recently beat Joaquin Buckley, while Bonfim is 7-1 in the promotion and has won five straight since his only defeat, against Nicolas Dalby in 2023. A rematch with Rakhmonov is another possibility if the Kazakh fighter is ready after his injury absence. Rakhmonov handed Garry the first loss of his career in 2024, but Garry took him to the first decision of his career.
Robertson’s five-fight winning run ended when Dern controlled their five-round strawweight title fight by unanimous decision. Robertson’s UFC record now stands at 14-7, and a meeting with Fatima Kline would offer a route back towards contention. Kline is 4-1 in the UFC and has won four consecutive fights, including a shutout decision over Tabatha Ricci in her latest appearance.
Kaue Fernandes was stopped within seconds by Jalin Turner, ending a three-fight winning streak that included two finishes. Fernandes is 3-2 since joining the UFC in 2023, and Billy Quarantillo has been identified as a possible next opponent. Quarantillo is 1-3 in his last four fights and recently moved up to lightweight, but his 6-6 UFC record gives him established promotional experience.
Mansur Abdul-Malik also left Philadelphia on a two-fight losing streak after Dustin Stoltzfus battered and submitted him late in the second round. Abdul-Malik is 3-2-1 in the UFC and has been finished in both of his defeats, including a third-round stoppage by Yousri Belgaroui in March.
