Yanga Bank Ksh116m Profit From Okello Transfer in Eight Months
Yanga will earn a Ksh116m profit after selling Ugandan playmaker Allan Okello to AS FAR Rabat for Ksh155m, only eight months after signing him.
Yanga have made a Ksh116 million profit from Allan Okello’s transfer to Moroccan club AS FAR Rabat, just eight months after bringing the Ugandan playmaker to Tanzania. The deal is valued at $1.2 million, or about Ksh155 million, while Yanga originally paid $300,000, equivalent to Ksh38.7 million, for the player.
Okello joined Yanga from Ugandan champions Vipers SC in December 2026 on a two-and-a-half-year contract. His departure means the Tanzanian club have secured a $900,000 return on the initial transfer investment in a short period.
The 14 goals and two assists Okello produced in the second half of last season helped raise his value. His contribution came as Yanga secured a fifth consecutive Tanzanian Premier League title, making him one of the most sought-after players in the region.
Yanga president Hersi Said confirmed the transfer and said the club remained a home for Okello, while also indicating that the player could return in the future if required. AS FAR moved ahead of other interested clubs, including teams from the Gulf, to complete the deal.
The Moroccan side were runners-up in the 2026 CAF Champions League and last won the Moroccan league title in 2023. Okello will now continue his career in Morocco after making a rapid rise from Vipers to Yanga and then to one of the continent’s prominent clubs.
Yanga’s initial agreement with Okello included a $100,000 signing-on payment and a monthly salary of $15,000. His wages at AS FAR are expected to be more than twice that figure, while Yanga have also strengthened their squad by signing Namibian forward Peter Shalulile as a free agent after his departure from Mamelodi Sundowns.
