Zamorano and Perez Make Weight for WBC Atomweight Title Fight
Camila Zamorano and Perla Perez have made weight for their WBC Atomweight World Title bout, with Zamorano set to defend the belt.
Camila Zamorano and Perla Perez have both made weight for their WBC Atomweight World Title fight. The all-Mexican contest will see Zamorano defend the championship against Perez, who is seeking the biggest win of her career.
The WBC’s women’s championship regulations have included a one-pound allowance at official weigh-ins since 2024. The policy applies across women’s WBC-affiliated and world title bouts and reflects the governing body’s consideration of hormonal effects on processes such as metabolism, sleep, appetite, body temperature and heart rate.
Zamorano has quickly established herself among boxing’s leading young talents. She became the WBC Interim Atomweight World Champion in January 2025 after beating Mika Iwakawa, before going on to claim the undisputed WBC Atomweight World Championship.
That achievement made Zamorano one of the youngest world champions in boxing history. She now faces a challenger with extensive experience at major-title level and a style built around constant pressure.
Perez has competed in 45 amateur bouts and has boxed in world championship contests across Europe. Known as “La Pulga”, she is a physical, forward-moving fighter who aims to make opponents work at an uncomfortable pace. That approach will be tested against Zamorano, who enters as one of the division’s brightest prospects.
Perez comes into the title fight after winning the WBC Atomweight Latino Title against Madeline Sarmiento. Her latest success gives her an additional championship behind her as she attempts to take Zamorano’s world crown. With both fighters making weight, the title defence is ready to proceed.
