Zesco Ndola Girls beat Gaborone 2-0 in CAF WCL COSAFA Qualifiers

Zesco Ndola Girls finished top of Group A with nine points after beating Gaborone United 2-0 and are prepared to face any opponent.

Zesco Ndola Girls secured a 2-0 victory over Gaborone United in the CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifiers. The result gave the Zambian side nine points and confirmed them as Group A winners.

The win came against Gaborone United, the hosts and defending champions. Zesco will now wait for the final Group B matches to determine the team they will face next in the competition.

Katya said Zesco had no preference over their possible opponent. The team’s position is that every side in the tournament must be approached with the same level of preparation, rather than selecting a preferred team from the remaining contenders.

The Group B standings will be settled after Silver Strikers play Nsingizini Hotspurs and Mamelodi Sundowns meet Costa Do Sol. Nsingizini have already been eliminated, while Sundowns are currently at the top of the group. Those matches will decide the remaining positions and Zesco’s next assignment.

Zesco’s victory also came against the team that beat them in the 2025 final, when Gaborone United won the contest 4-3 on penalties. However, Katya rejected the idea that the latest result was driven by revenge, describing it instead as three points earned in a different competition.

The tactician also praised the players for carrying out the plan throughout the tournament. Their perfect nine-point Group A record has placed Zesco in a strong position as they prepare for whoever emerges from the other section.
