Absa Bank announces UGX 300M package for 2026 Uganda Golf Open

Absa Bank Uganda has committed UGX 300 million to the 2026 Absa Pro-Am, offering 10 golfers sponsored trips to the Magical Kenya Open.

Absa Bank Uganda has unveiled a UGX 300 million sponsorship package for the Pro-Am leg of the 2026 Johnnie Walker Uganda Golf Open. This investment maintains the same financial level provided in 2025 and marks the seventh straight year the bank has supported the national tournament.

The announcement took place during the official press launch at the Uganda Golf Club in Kitante on Monday, 10 August 2026. The main sponsor, Johnnie Walker, also confirmed a UGX 600 million package covering the professional, elite men, ladies, and subsidiary categories.

A key feature of the Absa Pro-Am is the opportunity for international exposure. Up to 10 top performers from the event will receive fully sponsored trips to the next Magical Kenya Open. Priority for these slots will go to leading qualifying professionals, with any leftover spots assigned to the highest-performing amateurs.

Billy Bisanga, the Head of Client and Digital Marketing at Absa Bank Uganda, stated that the investment aims to improve competitive standards and support long-term player development. He noted that the partnership provides a platform for amateur and professional golfers to compete together while accessing DP World Tour level competition.

Over the last six years, more than 60 Ugandan golfers have used this platform to gain experience at the Magical Kenya Open. The Absa Pro-Am is scheduled for Tuesday, 1 September 2026, at the Uganda Golf Club, Kitante.

The wider 2026 Johnnie Walker Uganda Golf Open is set to begin on 13 August 2026. The tournament will feature top local golfers and competitors from the region across several playing categories.
