Amariegbu guides Dinice Royal to Island AllStars double triumph
Amariegbu has completed a player-coach double after leading Dinice Royal Investment to the Island AllStars Above-45 tournament title.
Elder Chief Shepherd Amariegbu has completed a player-coach double after guiding Dinice Royal Investment to the Island AllStars Sports Club International Above-45 Football Tournament title. The achievement came within six months of his previous Island AllStars success.
Dinice Royal had to recover from a difficult position in the final against Network Times. Their opponents led 1-0 late in the match, but Dinice Royal equalised through a free-kick taken by their goalkeeper before going on to secure the trophy.
Amariegbu said the team’s togetherness, faith and his continued dedication to football were central to the victory. He also stressed the importance of maintaining belief until the final whistle, a message he repeated to his players as they chased the equaliser.
The veteran coach explained that Dinice Royal increased the pressure by sending players forward from the defensive line. That change was intended to create more attacking options and gave the team a route back into the contest after falling behind.
Amariegbu’s involvement extends beyond the over-45 competition. He has run a football academy in Eti-Osa for more than 18 years and uses sessions with youth teams to stay fit despite his other commitments. His daily routine remains closely tied to the sport, which he regards as a permanent part of his life.
The latest success adds another trophy to Dinice Royal’s Island AllStars record and gives Amariegbu a second title in the competition in under six months, this time with the distinction of contributing as both coach and player.
