Norwich link shines light on Saint-Etienne midfielder Augustine Boakye

Norwich City have been linked with Saint-Etienne midfielder Augustine Boakye as the English Championship club considers a move for the Ghanaian. The 25-year-old has begun both of Saint-Etienne’s Ligue 2 matches this season and has provided one assist.

Boakye has featured for 71% of the available league minutes so far, underlining his involvement in the French club’s plans at the start of the campaign. The left-footed attacking midfielder remains with Saint-Etienne while the reported English interest develops.

Saint-Etienne signed Boakye from Austrian side Wolfsberger AC on 13 July 2024 for €3 million. His listed market value is now €6m, but no transfer fee has been put forward in connection with Norwich’s reported interest.

The midfielder is tied to Saint-Etienne until 30 June 2028. That long-term agreement leaves the French club with no immediate need to sell, while any move to Norwich would take Boakye from Ligue 2 to the Championship.

Boakye began his European career with Wolfsberger after leaving Ghanaian club WAFA SC in 2021. He spent three years with the Austrian side before moving to Saint-Etienne in 2024.

The Norwich link therefore comes while Boakye is already a regular part of Saint-Etienne’s midfield at the beginning of the season. The possible transfer has not been confirmed, and he remains under contract with the French club.
