Asante Kotoko target Vision FC defender Emmanuel Sanja ahead of 2026/27
Asante Kotoko are pursuing 18-year-old Vision FC right-back Emmanuel Sanja as they prepare to rebuild before the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
Asante Kotoko are pursuing 18-year-old Vision FC right-back Emmanuel Sanja after his nine Ghana Premier League appearances and one goal for the 2025/26 season. The defender has emerged as a target for the Porcupine Warriors as they prepare for the next campaign.
Sanja has been a regular member of the Vision FC side and is regarded as one of the promising young defenders in Ghana’s top flight. His performances have also attracted attention outside Ghana, with foreign clubs understood to have made offers for the teenager.
Vision FC must now decide whether to retain the right-back or allow him to leave. Kotoko are working to overcome that competition as they seek to add Sanja to their squad for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The pursuit forms part of a planned squad rebuild led by head coach Eric Tinkler and Director of Football Stanley Menzo. Kotoko have been linked with several targets as the club looks to strengthen its options before the new campaign begins.
The need for improvement is underlined by Kotoko’s recent form. They have lost four of their last five matches, including defeats by Swedru All Blacks, Bechem United, Dreams and Medeama, while their only victory in that sequence was a 2-0 win over Eleven Wonders. They scored three goals and conceded 11 across those five games.
Kotoko are currently in Accra for pre-season preparations, using the period to improve fitness and assess the squad. Their next listed fixture is an away Ghana Premier League meeting with Debibi United on September 5, 2026, while negotiations around Sanja could shape their defensive plans before competitive action resumes.
