Barcelona target Gyökeres as Arsenal revive Osimhen transfer move

Barcelona are pursuing Arsenal forward Viktor Gyökeres, a move that could help the Gunners reopen their bid for Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen.

Barcelona are targeting Arsenal forward Viktor Gyökeres as they search for a new centre-forward, while Arsenal have reopened discussions with Galatasaray over Victor Osimhen. Arsenal have won four of their last five matches, with a 1-1 draw at Paris Saint-Germain the only result that was not a victory.

Barcelona’s need for a senior striker has grown after Robert Lewandowski left when his contract ended last season. Ferran Torres has also moved to Paris Saint-Germain, leaving the Catalan club without an established senior number nine as the new La Liga campaign approaches.

The club have added Karim Adeyemi, Rodri, João Cancelo and Anthony Gordon during a busy summer, but another attacking signing remains a priority. Barcelona had first considered Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez, though talks with their domestic rivals have not progressed easily.

Gyökeres is now viewed as a more attainable option. If Barcelona complete a deal for the Arsenal forward, his exit could give the Premier League club the room to pursue Osimhen again. Arsenal’s renewed contact with Galatasaray comes as uncertainty continues around the Nigerian striker’s position in Turkey.

Osimhen scored twice in Galatasaray’s 2-2 league-opening draw against Çorum and subsequently suggested that he could leave. Arsenal had previously faced difficulties fitting him into the squad and meeting his wage demands, but selling Gyökeres could ease both issues.

Galatasaray could consider a sale if its valuation is reached, particularly if a replacement can be secured. Arsenal’s next fixture is at home against Coventry in the Premier League on August 21, while the transfer situation around Gyökeres and Osimhen remains unresolved.
