Daniel Amokachi Urges Discipline at Lagos Football Talent Camp
Former Super Eagles striker Daniel Amokachi urged young players to pair talent with discipline, hard work and education at a Lagos academy camp.
Former Super Eagles striker Daniel “The Bull” Amokachi used his role as Camp Ambassador at the Springsoca United Academy Mainland Summer Camp to stress discipline among young footballers in Lagos.
Amokachi addressed participants at the Legacy Pitch of the Lagos National Stadium in Surulere during the week-long programme, which was themed “Legends Meet Future Stars”. He urged the players to be disciplined in their daily lives and training routines as they work to improve their ability.
The former Ranchers Bees FC of Kaduna player also identified diligence, consistency and sustained effort as important parts of a young footballer’s development. He said talent by itself cannot guarantee a successful career, with education, teamwork, respect and a strong mentality also needed.
The camp combined technical, tactical and physical training with mentorship and character-building activities. Its structure was designed to help the participants remain focused while developing their football skills and understanding the responsibilities that come with pursuing the sport.
Amokachi expressed satisfaction with the number of children who attended and praised their commitment during the programme. He also noted their performances and willingness to learn, saying those qualities showed that the players were serious about making progress.
Amokachi emerged as a prominent player with Ranchers Bees while he was still in secondary school before later featuring for Club Brugge in Belgium, Besiktas in Turkey and Everton in England. His message at the Lagos camp reflected the central purpose of the programme: helping emerging players combine natural ability with the habits and guidance required for long-term development.
