Nigeria Curling Federation appoints Adetula as communications director

Phemmy Adetula has joined the Nigeria Curling Federation board as communications director, with a remit to raise the sport’s profile and strengthen engagement.

The Nigeria Curling Federation has appointed sports communications specialist and journalist Phemmy Adetula as its communications director and made him a member of the federation’s board. The decision was approved at a board meeting held over the weekend.

Adetula’s appointment is intended to improve the federation’s strategic communication, deepen its engagement with stakeholders and increase the visibility of curling in Nigeria. The federation is seeking stronger promotion for the sport as it develops its activities and institutional presence.

Nigeria Curling Federation president Damola Daniel said Adetula’s experience and standing in sports communication made him a suitable addition to the board. Daniel also pointed to Adetula’s previous work in sports administration, including service as a board member and public relations officer of the Nigeria Olympic Committee.

Adetula received the Veteran Sports Journalist Award from the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria during the organisation’s Diamond Jubilee celebration last year. He has also served the Judo and Fencing Federations in different roles, giving him experience beyond journalism and in the administration of national sports bodies.

The new communications director said the role represents a further opportunity to serve Nigerian sport. His responsibilities will include presenting the story of Nigerian curling, promoting its athletes, attracting additional stakeholders and helping the federation build a stronger position within African sport.

The Nigeria Curling Federation oversees the development and administration of five disciplines in the country: ice curling, wheelchair curling, floor curling, table curling and street curling. Adetula’s board appointment comes as the federation seeks to give each part of the sport greater attention and public reach.
