Devin Titus says Stellenbosch exit was emotional after MAS Fes move

Devin Titus has left Stellenbosch FC for Moroccan champions MAS Fes after 176 appearances, describing his departure as an emotional moment.

Devin Titus, 25, has ended his Stellenbosch FC stay after 176 appearances and 36 goals, describing his permanent move to MAS Fes as an emotional departure. The winger completed the transfer to the Moroccan Botola Pro champions over the weekend after rising through Stellenbosch’s development ranks.

Titus leaves as Stellenbosch’s second-most capped player and their second-highest scorer. His final goal for the club came last week in a Betway Premiership away match against Polokwane City.

His time in the Winelands included a Carling Cup medal and a run to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup. Those achievements, along with the memories built at the club, have made the move particularly difficult for the player.

Titus said Stellenbosch provided the opportunity for him to become a professional footballer and that the club would always hold an important place in his career. He also believes he is departing with the team in a stronger position than when it faced a relegation fight last season.

The winger chose to remain with Stellenbosch during that difficult period because he wanted to help the club avoid danger before considering a move. He now feels that he has fulfilled that responsibility and can begin a new chapter in Morocco.

MAS Fes will give Titus his first experience of football outside the Betway Premiership. The move also takes him into the CAF Champions League, where he will have the chance to compete at what he considers the highest level in African club football and represent South Africa abroad.
