EPL: Manchester United assign Carlos Baleba the No. 20 shirt

Manchester United have confirmed Carlos Baleba will wear the No. 20 shirt after joining from Brighton & Hove Albion. The Cameroon midfielder has signed a contract running until June 2031, with the club holding an option to add another year.

Baleba’s shirt number was announced after United completed the signing of the 22-year-old on Tuesday. The move takes the Cameroon international to Old Trafford after his spell with Brighton, where he established himself in the Premier League.

The No. 20 shirt will now be associated with Baleba as he begins his Manchester United career. The club confirmed the number through its official website, providing the first clear detail about his squad role following the completion of the transfer.

Baleba has also spoken positively about working under United manager Michael Carrick. He highlighted Carrick’s experience and understanding of football, saying the manager can help him progress towards the highest level.

Carrick will now have Baleba available as United prepare to host Ipswich Town in the Premier League this weekend. The midfielder’s arrival adds a Cameroon international to the United squad, while the length of his contract gives the club a long-term commitment to the player.

The agreement keeps Baleba at Manchester United through June 2031 unless the club activates the additional year. For now, his first identity at Old Trafford is established: the 22-year-old midfielder will wear No. 20.
