FIFA imposes registration ban on Karela United over Camara debt

Karela United cannot register new players after FIFA sanctioned the Ghana Premier League club over an unpaid obligation to Sana Camara.

FIFA has imposed a registration ban on Ghana Premier League club Karela United over an unpaid financial obligation to player Sana Camara. The sanction was confirmed in a letter dated August 17, 2026, and can last for up to three complete and consecutive registration periods.

The restriction prevents Karela from registering players at both national and international level. It will remain active until the club settles the amount owed under an earlier FIFA decision in case FPSD-23160.

FIFA has directed the Ghana Football Association to apply the ban domestically if that has not already been done. The amount due to Camara was not included in the communication, leaving the club to resolve the matter under the terms of the original decision.

The ruling arrives during the current transfer and registration period and limits Karela’s ability to add to their squad. The Tamale-based club must therefore clear the outstanding obligation before the registration restriction can be lifted, unless the maximum period expires under FIFA’s rules.

Karela’s recent league form has been mixed. They have taken two wins, suffered two defeats and drawn once in their last five matches, collecting seven points while scoring three goals and conceding five. Their latest result was a 2-1 victory over Young Apostles.

The club’s next listed fixture is away to Samartex in the Ghana Premier League on September 5, 2026. The FIFA sanction concerns player registration and does not alter the results from Karela’s recent run.
