Ghana captain Linda Owusu Ansah sets three major career goals

Black Princesses captain Linda Owusu Ansah wants African Player of the Year honours, trophies with Ghana and success in European club football.

Ghana’s Black Princesses captain Linda Owusu Ansah has identified three major targets for her career: winning the African Women’s Footballer of the Year award, lifting trophies with Ghana and building a successful career in Europe. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder also hopes to reach the level of Europe’s leading players.

Owusu Ansah’s ambitions combine individual recognition with achievements for her country and the clubs she represents. She wants her progress to be measured not only by personal honours but also by the medals collected during her international and club career.

The Ghana captain is preparing for another important assignment at the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland. She played a key role in the Black Princesses’ qualification, scoring from a free-kick against Uganda in Kampala as Ghana secured its place at the tournament.

Ghana will compete in Group C alongside Ecuador, France and Korea Republic. The Black Princesses are seeking a first appearance in the knockout phase of the U20 Women’s World Cup, giving Owusu Ansah a clear team objective alongside her personal ambitions.

The tournament will provide another international platform for the midfielder after her contribution during qualifying. Ghana’s campaign in Poland will also be an opportunity for the captain to help pursue the country’s long-standing goal of reaching the latter stages of the competition for the first time.

Owusu Ansah’s longer-term plans extend to the highest level of European club football. She wants to win major honours with her clubs and eventually compete for recognition among the continent’s elite players, while continuing to pursue African Women’s Footballer of the Year honours and success with Ghana.
