Creck held 1-1 as Malawi Super League 2026 survival fears grow

Creck remain 16th in the Malawi Super League with six points after a 1-1 draw extended their winless run to six matches.

Creck’s relegation concerns intensified after they drew 1-1 with Goshen City Dedza Dynamos, extending their run without a win to six matches in the Malawi Super League. The result came on Sunday at Dedza Stadium and left the club still searching for a second victory of the season.

Creck are 16th with six points from 13 matches. Their record stands at one win, three draws and nine defeats, leaving them firmly in the fight to avoid dropping from Malawi’s top division.

The latest draw followed five consecutive results that included defeats by Karonga United, Mitundu Baptist, Nyasa Big Bullets and CIVO United. Creck also lost 2-1 at Karonga, 0-1 at home to Mitundu Baptist, 0-2 away to Nyasa Big Bullets and 0-1 against CIVO United during the run. Their only victory in that sequence of recent fixtures was a 3-1 away success against Masters FC.

Creck have scored eight goals and conceded 18 across their 13 league matches. The numbers underline the difficulty they have faced at both ends of the pitch, with their sole win so far coming against Masters FC in June.

Their position gives added importance to the next fixture, when Creck will host Ekhaya on September 13. Ekhaya are ninth in the standings, placing the sides in very different positions as Creck attempt to halt their slide and close the gap on the teams above them.

The 1-1 result did not move Creck from 16th, but it extended their unbeaten wait at a time when points are becoming increasingly important. They now need a change in results to strengthen their chances of remaining in the Malawi Super League.
