Joshua-Fury Battle of Britain given November 20 tentative date

Anthony Joshua has been offered November 20 as a tentative date for his long-awaited heavyweight fight with Tyson Fury, amid a venue dispute.

November 20 has been proposed as the tentative date for Anthony Joshua’s long-awaited heavyweight bout with Tyson Fury. The fight is being positioned as a Battle of Britain between two former world champions, but its venue remains unsettled.

Joshua, the Nigerian-born former two-time world heavyweight champion, and his team are resisting plans to stage the contest at Madison Square Garden in the United States. Their preference is London, where both fighters could benefit from competing in their home country.

The venue dispute is tied to the commercial plans surrounding the bout. Promoters and their partners believe the event’s income should extend beyond ticket sales, with the United States viewed as a more lucrative market for the fight.

Netflix and Saudi boxing figure Turki Alalshikh are understood to be targeting November 20 for the meeting. They want the contest to take place at Madison Square Garden during the autumn, while Joshua’s representatives continue to argue for a British venue.

Joshua’s position is also linked to a contract previously signed by his team. That agreement requires the bout to be held in the United Kingdom, creating a barrier to the proposed American location despite the commercial push behind it.

The fight has been delayed as the parties work through the disagreement, although plans for the heavyweight meeting remain active. Netflix has continued promoting the possibility of an announcement, while the central issue is still whether the long-awaited all-British contest will be held in London or the United States.
