Kibwage says Gor Mahia are ready for Migori Youth and Tusker

Gor Mahia assistant captain Mike Kibwage believes the squad is prepared for their upcoming matches against Migori Youth FC and Tusker FC. The team is scheduled to face Migori Youth in the Green Legacy Cup on Sunday, August 16, before meeting Tusker in the FKF Super Cup on August 23, 2026.

Kibwage stated that the entire squad is currently together in camp to recover and regroup. He noted that the players are motivated and in good spirits following their return from the CECAFA Kagame Cup in Rwanda. The assistant captain also expressed appreciation for the fans who supported the team during their regional campaign.

The club is returning to competitive action on home soil after their recent tournament. Kibwage congratulated Migori Youth on their promotion to the top flight after winning the National Super League. He noted that the upcoming fixture marks the team's first home game since their time in Rwanda.

Kibwage attributed the team's confidence to the cohesion developed during the CECAFA Kagame Cup. He said the experience in Rwanda helped the players bond and strengthened their unity as a group. This preparation is intended to carry them through both the Green Legacy Cup and the Super Cup encounter.

Gor Mahia's recent regional campaign saw them top Group A in the Kagame Cup. Their tournament included a 5-0 win against APR FC, a 1-0 victory over Garde Républicaine, and a 1-0 loss to Vipers SC. In the knockout rounds, they progressed past Al-Hilal Omdurman following an 8-7 penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw. Their run ended in the final with a 2-1 extra-time loss to Rayon Sports.
