Kigezi HomeBoyz appoint Kefa Kisala for Uganda Premier League debut
Kigezi HomeBoyz have confirmed Kefa Kisala as head coach as the Uganda Premier League newcomers prepare for their first top-flight campaign.
Kigezi HomeBoyz have appointed Kefa Kisala as their head coach ahead of the club’s first Uganda Premier League campaign. The announcement confirms Kisala as the manager who will lead the newcomers into top-flight football.
Kisala brings experience from several clubs in Uganda’s top division. His previous assignments include Wakiso Giants, Express, BUL, Masaka LC and KCCA, giving him a wide range of experience before taking charge at Kigezi HomeBoyz.
The appointment follows the departure of Sadiq Ssempigi, who guided the club to promotion. Ssempigi has since taken charge of regional league side SC Volcanoes, leaving HomeBoyz to make a change before their move into the top flight.
There is also no confirmed update on Joseph Mutyaba, who had been announced as the club’s head coach in June. Kisala’s confirmation now places him at the centre of the team’s preparations for its debut season at Uganda’s highest level.
The available 2025 league figures for Homeboyz show a sixth-place finish, with 49 points from 34 matches. That record came from 12 wins, 13 draws and nine defeats, with 46 goals scored and 37 conceded.
Homeboyz ended that recorded run without a win in their last five matches. They drew 1-1 away to Police and 2-2 against Kariobangi Sharks before defeats by AFC Leopards, Murang'a SEAL and Gor Mahia. The sequence included a 2-1 loss to Leopards, followed by 1-0 defeats against Murang'a SEAL and Gor Mahia. Kisala’s immediate task is to establish his methods and prepare the Kigezi club for its first experience of top-flight competition.
