Mpinganjira demands consistency after Wanderers' 2-0 FDH Bank win
Mighty Wanderers beat Kamuzu Barracks 2-0, with Bob Mpinganjira calling for consistency before a CAF Champions League meeting with Simba.
Mighty Wanderers defeated Kamuzu Barracks 2-0 in the FDH Bank Premiership, giving coach Bob Mpinganjira the result he wants his team to build on before facing Simba in the CAF Champions League. Sama Thierry opened the scoring in the 13th minute, while Emmanuel Nyirenda added the second during first-half stoppage time at Civo Stadium on Sunday.
Mpinganjira has urged the Nomads to maintain that level as they approach a demanding run of fixtures. The victory strengthened the team’s momentum, but the coach’s focus is on producing similar performances consistently rather than treating the result as an isolated success.
The coach believes Wanderers have enough quality to compete when their continental campaign begins in September. He also indicated that the squad will not follow a separate preparation plan for the cup assignment, with the emphasis instead on their established work and on keeping the players motivated.
Before Simba arrive on the continental agenda, Wanderers must return to domestic duty against Red Lions this weekend. That match will be played at Mpira Stadium, where the Nomads will seek another win and a further boost ahead of the meeting with the Tanzanian side.
Simba enter that wider picture with a strong recent sequence. Their latest five listed results are two goalless draws, against Jamus and Mogadishu City, followed by victories over KMC, Singida Fountain Gate and Mtibwa Sugar, with scores of 1-0, 2-0 and 3-0 respectively. In the 2026 Ligi Kuu Bara table, Simba are third on three points from one match and have scored twice without conceding.
Their next league fixture is away to Pamba Jiji on August 19, while the CAF Champions League contest with Wanderers is scheduled for September. Mpinganjira’s message is therefore clear: the 2-0 result has put the Nomads in a positive position, but consistency in the remaining domestic programme will be central to their preparations.
