Oyirwoth scores on Dunfermline debut in 2-1 Premier Sports Cup loss

Uganda midfielder Allan Oyirwoth scored on his Dunfermline Athletic debut, but Ross County won 2-1 to reach the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals.

Dunfermline Athletic lost 2-1 to Ross County in the Premier Sports Cup, despite Allan Oyirwoth scoring on his debut. The Ugandan midfielder struck in the 76th minute after coming on, but Richard Chin’s late winner sent County into the quarter-finals.

Jamie Lindsay put Ross County ahead two minutes before the hour mark. Dunfermline responded when Oyirwoth finished from close range, giving the new signing an immediate impact in his first appearance for the Scottish club.

The hosts’ equaliser did not change the outcome. Chin restored County’s lead in the 85th minute with a finish from 18 yards, leaving Dunfermline without a route back into the match before the final whistle.

For Ross County, the victory secured progress to the last eight of the Premier Sports Cup. Dunfermline’s campaign in the competition ended at the first knockout hurdle, although Oyirwoth’s goal provided a positive personal start despite the defeat.

Oyirwoth joined Dunfermline on loan from Major League Soccer side New England Revolution after spending the 2026 campaign in the club’s system. He made 15 appearances for Revolution II during that season, scoring once, and also featured for the senior team and in the U.S. Open Cup.

The midfielder moved to New England in January 2025 and became one of the youngest players to appear for the MLS club. He made five MLS appearances that year, including four starts, while continuing his development with Revolution II. His move to Dunfermline places him in the Scottish Championship as he seeks more regular senior football in Europe.
