Niger Tornadoes sign Usman Audu from El-Kanemi Warriors in NPFL
Niger Tornadoes have added Usman Audu from El-Kanemi Warriors as they reshape their squad after a 15th-place NPFL 2026 campaign.
Niger Tornadoes have signed Usman Audu from El-Kanemi Warriors, adding to a squad that sits 15th in the 2026 Nigeria Professional Football League with 48 points. Their record is 13 wins, nine draws and 16 defeats from 38 matches, with 37 goals scored and 36 conceded.
Audu arrives after helping El-Kanemi Warriors win the President Federation Cup last season. His contribution to that success made him an important part of the Borno club’s campaign before he moved to Tornadoes.
The transfer also brings Audu back together with Kabiru Dogo, who coached him at El-Kanemi Warriors last season. Their previous working relationship will now continue at Niger Tornadoes as the Minna-based club reshapes its squad.
Tornadoes had already announced five new arrivals the previous week. The recruitment drive follows the exit of several key players, leaving the club to reinforce its options while competing from a difficult position in the league standings.
Their recent results show a side struggling for consistency. Tornadoes beat Shooting Stars 1-0, drew 0-0 away to El-Kanemi Warriors and shared a 2-2 result with Kwara United. They then lost 3-0 at Remo Stars before a goalless home draw against Enugu Rangers.
Audu’s arrival comes before Tornadoes face Enyimba on August 30, 2026, in their next NPFL fixture. With the club 15th after 38 matches, the new signing joins a squad seeking greater stability after a run that has produced one win, three draws and one defeat in its last five games.
