Shabana FC receive KSh 10m donation from Ruto for modern team bus

Shabana FC have received KSh 10 million from President William Ruto, completing a KSh 20 million pledge to help the club obtain a new bus.

Shabana FC have received a KSh 10 million cash donation from President William Ruto to help procure a modern team bus. The payment is the remaining part of a KSh 20 million pledge made to the Kenyan top-flight club.

Shabana announced the development on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, in a letter signed by Secretary General Dr Elizaphan Kerama and addressed to the president. The club also published the update on its verified Facebook page.

Club patron and Governor Paul Simba Arati was credited with helping facilitate the handover. During a meeting with Shabana’s management, Arati urged other leaders to provide further support as the club continues its operations.

The assistance comes as Shabana prepares to relocate to Afraha Stadium while Gusii Stadium undergoes reconstruction and upgrading to international standards. The team bus is expected to address the club’s transport needs during that period, while the club also acknowledged the backing of its players and supporters.

Shabana finished fifth in the 2025 FKF Premier League with 52 points from 34 matches. Their record was 14 wins, 10 draws and 10 defeats, with 35 goals scored and 34 conceded.

The Kisii-based side has recorded one win, two draws and two defeats in its last five league matches. Its recent sequence includes a 1-2 loss to KCB, a 1-1 draw away to Sofapaka, a 1-0 victory at Bidco United, a 0-1 defeat to Mara Sugar and a goalless draw against Ulinzi Stars.

Shabana’s next listed league fixture is away to Posta Rangers FC on August 30, 2026. The financial support arrives as the club continues preparations for the new FKF Premier League season and its temporary move from Gusii Stadium.
