Sir Apollo Kaggwa sweep 2026 FUBA Primary League medals, 47–44

Sir Apollo Kaggwa Schools won U13 boys’ gold, U13 girls’ silver and U11 boys’ bronze at the 2026 FUBA Primary League.

Sir Apollo Kaggwa Schools won the 2026 Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations Primary Schools League U13 boys’ title with a 47–44 victory over Hill Preparatory School. The school network also took U13 girls’ silver after a 34–24 loss to Hill Preparatory and U11 boys’ bronze through a 38–20 win in the third-place playoff.

The three medals gave Sir Apollo Kaggwa Schools the strongest overall finish across the age groups. The U13 boys held on in the tournament’s closest match, while the U13 girls reached the final before Hill Preparatory secured the championship. The U11 team recovered from its semi-final defeat to complete the school’s presence on every step of the podium.

The U13 boys had established their credentials early, beating Olive School Namugongo 90–9 in their opening match. They later defeated Twinbrook Schools 78–6, Kampala Community International School 82–12 in the quarter-finals and Beautiful Beginning School Ssisa 40–21 in the semi-finals before edging Hill Preparatory in the decider.

The other teams also produced strong knockout campaigns. The U13 girls beat KCIS 36–12 in the quarter-finals and Beautiful Beginning School Ssisa 28–22 in the last four. Their run ended against Hill Preparatory in the final, while the U11 boys had earlier defeated St Patrick Primary School Kira 29–14 and Olive School Namugongo 40–12 before overcoming Hill Preparatory in the bronze-medal match.

Kanadi Waleed was named U13 boys’ Most Valuable Player. Nabwami Sonia received the U11 girls’ MVP award, adding individual recognition to the network’s team success. Federation officials also presented medals and certificates to participants for their discipline, work ethic and sportsmanship.

Sir Apollo Kaggwa Primary School Kira hosted the network’s home matches at a basketball facility launched earlier in 2026. The league achievement adds to the schools’ wider co-curricular year, which included a top-10 finish at the Father Grimes National Schools Chess Championship at Ntare School in Mbarara. The schools operate across Kampala and Wakiso, with campuses including Kisaasi, Mengo, Nakasero, Kireka, Old Kampala, Kawempe, Kyengera, Kitintale, Kira and Mugongo.
