Trabzonspor set €30m price for Super Eagles striker Onuachu

Trabzonspor will consider offers of €30 million for Nigeria striker Paul Onuachu, with Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli interested in signing him.

Trabzonspor have set a €30 million valuation for Nigeria striker Paul Onuachu as Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli pursue a possible transfer. The Turkish club are now prepared to consider his departure if that asking price is met.

Onuachu returned to Trabzonspor permanently last summer after spending the 2023-24 season at the club on loan from Southampton. He followed that move with the most productive campaign of his Trabzonspor career, scoring 26 goals in all competitions.

The 32-year-old scored 22 times in the Turkish Super Lig, finishing level with Istanbul Basaksehir forward Eldor Shomurodov in the race for the Golden Boot. His individual output made him one of the key players in Trabzonspor’s squad, but his position at the club has become less certain.

Al Ahli are regarded as the leading candidate for his signature, and additional discussions between the Saudi club and Trabzonspor are expected this week. Onuachu is understood to be receptive to a move, although the transfer depends on a club agreeing to the €30 million fee.

Trabzonspor previously rejected two offers while insisting that they wanted to retain their leading scorer. That stance has changed as the club moves towards a possible deal to sign former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez from Al Hilal. Bringing in Nunez would give Trabzonspor a prominent alternative in attack and could make them more willing to sell Onuachu.

Al Hilal may also require another forward after reportedly seeing a €130 million offer for Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen turned down. The Saudi club’s attacking plans could be affected further if Karim Benzema leaves, although any move for Onuachu remains dependent on Trabzonspor receiving their full valuation. For now, Al Ahli or another interested club must meet the €30 million demand before the Nigeria international’s future is resolved.
