Wanderers crush Western Suburbs 104-28 in Namibia Premier League
Wanderers overwhelmed Western Suburbs 104-28 in Namibia’s Premier League to stay top, while Suburbs remain bottom without a win after 11 games.
Wanderers dismantled Western Suburbs 104-28 in Saturday’s Namibia Premier League fixture at Wanderers Sports Ground in Pionierspark. The hosts led 47-14 at half-time and added another 57 points after the break to complete a one-sided victory.
Wanderers set the tone from the opening exchanges, repeatedly breaking through the Suburbs defence. They finished with 15 tries, with Nandivatu Karuuombe and Jorick Muir each crossing three times.
Kistings Minyoi, JP Campbell and Kyle Nel scored two tries apiece. Jonathan Hannekom, Adriaan Booysen, Ryan Coetzee and Edward Drotsky also added tries as Wanderers maintained their control throughout the match.
Johny Mwenyo supplied 24 points with his kicking, converting 12 of Wanderers’ 15 tries. Western Suburbs managed four tries in reply, with Nzola-Menza Nkunku scoring twice and Morgan Esterhuizen and Wyatt Brooks each crossing once. Brooks converted all four.
The defeat leaves Khomasdal-based Suburbs at the foot of the nine-team standings with three points from 11 matches. They are still without a victory this season, and the 76-point margin made their difficult campaign even more severe.
Wanderers remain top on 63 points from 11 games, nine points clear of Montego United. Montego are second on 54 points and have played one match fewer. Wanderers had moved into first place after beating UNAM the previous weekend, and Saturday’s result strengthened their position at the summit.
