Andre Ayew backs Constituency Games after 2,120-item donation

Andre Ayew has backed Ghana’s Constituency Games after the Ghana-Anhui Chamber donated 2,120 sports items and motorcycles for grassroots development.

The Ghana-Anhui Chamber of Commerce and Industry has donated 2,120 sports items and motorcycles to support Ghana’s Constituency Games and grassroots sport. Former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew welcomed the contribution, saying community opportunities can help young people follow the path that led him into professional football.

The donation was handed to the National Sports Authority’s Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Committee on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the ESP Hotel in Labone, Accra. The ceremony brought together sports officials, representatives of Ghana’s Chinese community and other figures linked to the country’s sporting administration.

The package includes 600 pairs of footwear, made up of Peace canvas sneakers and casual shoes, as well as 1,520 Peace T-shirts. The shirts are available in adult unisex sizes from XS to 3XL. The items are intended for use during the nationwide constituency-level competitions and other grassroots activities.

Ayew said his support for youth sport had taken him to communities in the Ashanti and Volta regions, where he has recently participated in football activities. He stressed that the programme reaches beyond football because it covers several sports and is designed to involve communities across Ghana.

The 36-year-old also connected the initiative to his own development. He recalled playing football in his community from an early age and said that access to such opportunities helped shape the career that took him to the highest levels of the game. He added that he would personally support football-related activities connected to the programme.

Samson Deen, chairman of the NSA committee, said the Constituency Games were created to give young talent opportunities regardless of location or background. He said stronger structures and better resources at community level could help Ghana identify more athletes capable of competing at the highest level.

Ghana-Anhui Chamber chairman Tang Wei described the donation as part of the organisation’s corporate social responsibility and its commitment to Ghanaian society. The programme follows the inauguration of the NSA’s partnership committee, which is seeking funding and strategic cooperation to strengthen sports development, unite communities and create clearer pathways for emerging athletes.
