Bulawayo Chiefs, Sawu and Ncube fined after Chibuku Super Cup disorder

Bulawayo Chiefs have been fined US$2,000, while Agent Sawu and Melikhaya Ncube each received US$500 sanctions after a Chibuku Super Cup incident.

Bulawayo Chiefs have been fined US$2,000 for disorderly conduct, while assistant coach Agent Sawu and captain Melikhaya Ncube have each been ordered to pay US$500. The sanctions follow incidents during the club’s Chibuku Super Cup first-round match against Hardrock FC at Chahwanda Stadium on Sunday.

The Premier Soccer League applied Order 15 of its Standing Orders, Offences and Fines to the club, Sawu and Ncube. The provision covers conduct by clubs, officials and players that interferes with the orderly running of a match before, during or after the game.

Its scope includes aggressive or violent behaviour, damage to equipment and other conduct considered unbecoming. The disciplinary action was issued two days after Chiefs’ cup tie against Hardrock, with the club and the two individuals dealt with separately under the same order.

Chiefs are 12th in the 2026 Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League, with 30 points from 26 matches. Their record is seven wins, nine draws and 10 defeats, while they have scored 23 goals and conceded 29.

The sanctions come during an inconsistent league run for Bulawayo Chiefs. They have won two of their last five matches, beating Kariba 1-0 and MWOS 1-0, but lost to Scotland Mabvuku, Platinum FC and Simba Bhora in the other three fixtures. Those defeats came by 2-1, 1-0 and 2-0 respectively.

Chiefs’ next listed fixture is a league match at home to CAPS United on 22 August 2026. The disciplinary action adds a club fine and individual penalties to the team’s obligations as it continues its league campaign alongside the cup competition.
