Fortune Eichab appointed Tigers head coach on two-year deal

Tigers have appointed Fortune Eichab as head coach on a two-year contract, with the experienced Namibian tasked with shaping the club’s new era.

Tigers have appointed Fortune Eichab as their new head coach on a two-year contract, bringing the experienced Namibian coach to the Shandumbala-based club before the new season. He will be responsible for building a competitive team as Tigers prepare for an important period in their history.

Eichab has coached at both lower-division and top-flight level in Namibia. His coaching path began with Scorpion United, a Khomas Youth League club he founded after work commitments ended his playing ambitions. He also participated in athletics during his youth before turning his focus fully towards developing footballers.

His first major breakthrough came at Tura Magic, where he led the team to third place in the Namibia Premier League in the 2018/19 season. That campaign also saw him included among the nominees for the league’s Coach of the Year award.

Eichab’s most recent success came with Khomas NamPol. He guided the police side into the top flight and then helped them finish third in their first Namibia Premiership season, collecting 59 points behind champions African Stars and runners-up FC Ongos. NamPol also spent a period at the top of the table after a strong run of results in December 2024.

The new Tigers coach is known for building organised, competitive teams and for favouring an attacking approach. He has also indicated that his methods can change depending on the opponent and the circumstances of a match, rather than relying on one fixed style.

Tigers are understood to have acquired Namibia Premiership status from a club with recent NFA Cup success and experience in CAF inter-club competitions. Eichab now begins by assessing his squad and preparing the team for the demands of the top flight, while aiming to establish a side capable of challenging opponents and giving the club’s supporters a team to take pride in.
