Ghanaian teenager Apetorgbor seals 2-1 Sandefjord win in Eliteserien

Ghana U20 forward Foster Apetorgbor scored four minutes after coming on to give Sandefjord a 2-1 win over Sarpsborg 08.

Ghanaian forward Foster Apetorgbor scored the winning goal as Sandefjord defeated Sarpsborg 08 2-1 away in the Norwegian Eliteserien on Sunday. The result ended Sandefjord’s eight-match run without a league victory.

The 18-year-old Ghana youth international began the match on the bench and entered in the 53rd minute. Four minutes later, he restored Sandefjord’s lead with a spectacular finish that ultimately decided the contest.

Sandefjord had moved ahead in the 28th minute through Oscar Kapskarmo. Sarpsborg 08 responded nine minutes later, with Daniel Karlsbakk scoring to bring the hosts level before the interval.

Apetorgbor’s intervention gave Sandefjord the advantage for a second time, and the visitors protected it through the remainder of the match. His goal therefore secured the club’s first league success in eight games, ending a difficult sequence of results.

The forward has now made six appearances in Norway’s top division this season, with one goal and one assist. He joined Sandefjord permanently after leaving Ghana Premier League club Nsoatreman FC, which is no longer operating.

The performance adds to Apetorgbor’s early progress in Norway and could strengthen his prospects of being selected for Ghana’s squad at the 2027 Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations. He will now seek to build on his decisive contribution as he continues his development with Sandefjord.
