Nigerian fans fuel SuperSport’s 19.1bn World Cup digital views

Nigerian users made up 21.2% of SuperSport Predictor players as the broadcaster recorded 19.1bn social views during the 2026 World Cup.

Nigerian football fans played a major role in SuperSport’s digital FIFA World Cup 2026 audience, accounting for 21.2 per cent of users on the broadcaster’s SuperSport Predictor. The wider digital operation recorded 19.1 billion social media views and 677 million video views during the tournament.

Nigeria supplied the second-largest share of Predictor users, behind South Africa’s 29.5 per cent. The platform attracted 175,615 users, who made 3.81 million predictions across the competition. It also registered 257,299 game sessions and 160,749 completed challenges, giving it an 83.1 per cent completion rate.

The broadcaster extended its coverage beyond live television through interactive features, short-form video, local-language commentary and creator programming. SuperSport produced 817 videos for YouTube and TikTok, with those platforms accounting for 84 per cent of its 677 million video views. The content generated 54.4 million engagements and helped build a paid audience of 11.4 million.

Nigeria also featured prominently in the conversation around the broadcaster’s Pidgin commentary. That commentary produced the highest level of organic social discussion among SuperSport’s commentators, highlighting the impact of culturally familiar presentation during the World Cup.

The #EverythingCanWait campaign was responsible for 19.1 billion social platform views. SuperSport’s Pan-African creator programme added 18.1 million views and 8.8 million engagements, while creator content recorded a five per cent overall engagement rate.

SuperSport.com drew 10.1 million visitors during the World Cup period and more than six million football video views. The site referred 417,591 users to DStv’s over-the-top service, while the dedicated FIFA World Cup Hub received six million visits. Peak concurrent streaming reached 933,000, showing how the tournament audience used digital services alongside the broadcaster’s live coverage.
