Samuel Obeng ruled out for season after ACL injury at Albacete

Ghanaian forward Samuel Obeng will miss the rest of the season after suffering an ACL injury in Albacete’s Segunda opener against Las Palmas.

Samuel Obeng’s season has ended after an ACL injury in Albacete’s first match of the campaign. The Ghanaian forward, who scored three goals for the club after joining midway through last season, suffered the injury against UD Las Palmas on Sunday.

The former Black Meteors striker underwent initial examinations before the extent of the problem was confirmed. The diagnosis means he faces a lengthy recovery and will not feature again for Albacete during the current season.

Obeng had quickly become an important attacking option after arriving at the Spanish club in the second half of the previous campaign. His absence now removes a forward who had already contributed to Albacete’s attack since joining the squad.

Albacete have expressed their support for Obeng during his rehabilitation. The club has indicated that it will accompany him throughout the recovery process, including his return to training and the eventual aim of seeing him back in the Albacete shirt.

The injury also leaves the club with a squad issue to address in attack. Albacete have two weeks remaining in the transfer window to look for another forward to help cover the loss of the Ghanaian.

Obeng’s injury came at the start of a new Segunda campaign, making the setback particularly damaging for both the player and the club. Albacete must now continue without him for the remainder of the season while he begins the recovery from the ACL problem.
