Zimbabwe female referees begin FIFA all-women course in Bulawayo
Zimbabwe’s top female match officials have started a week-long FIFA MA course in Bulawayo focused on development, decision-making and career progression.
Zimbabwe’s elite female match officials have started a week-long FIFA MA All-Women Referees Course in Bulawayo. The programme places women officials at the centre of a specialised development initiative designed to strengthen their preparation for higher levels of football.
The course brings together leading female referees from across the country for intensive work on officiating standards. Its focus includes technical development, match preparation and the skills required to make sound decisions during games.
The programme was opened on Tuesday by Sakhumuzi Ndlovu, the chairperson of the Zimbabwe Football Association’s Bulawayo Province. Faith Mloyi, who leads the Zifa Referees Committee, also attended the opening.
For the officials taking part, the course is intended to provide more than technical instruction. It gives them an opportunity to build confidence, improve their decision-making and develop knowledge that can support their progress towards officiating at the highest level.
The initiative forms part of Zifa’s effort to develop female match officials and establish clearer routes for women within the country’s football structures. It also reflects the wider growth of women’s participation in the sport, where they are taking roles as players, coaches, administrators and referees.
The presence of an all-women referees course also offers visibility to girls who want to pursue careers in football. Zimbabwe’s participating officials are using the week of training to strengthen their capabilities while advancing their place in the game.
