Ibrahim Danlad trains with Asante Kotoko as contract talks continue
Ibrahim Danlad has joined Asante Kotoko’s pre-season work, but the Ghana goalkeeper is still negotiating terms over a return to the club.
Ibrahim Danlad is training with Asante Kotoko during their pre-season preparations, but the goalkeeper has not yet completed his return to the Ghana Premier League club. Negotiations between the two sides are continuing and are understood to be close to completion.
The 23-year-old is expected to agree a two-year contract if the remaining details are settled. The proposed deal would also give Kotoko the option to extend the arrangement for another season, although the return has not been formally confirmed.
Danlad is familiar with Kotoko after coming through the club’s youth system. He became an important member of the first team during the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League campaign, when the Porcupine Warriors won the title. He later wore the captain’s armband before leaving Ghana to continue his career abroad.
His involvement in training means he has already joined the squad’s preparations under head coach Eric Tinkler ahead of the 2026/27 season. However, taking part in the sessions has not removed the need for both parties to complete the contractual process.
Kotoko are working to reinforce their goalkeeping options as part of a wider squad rebuild. Danlad’s experience with the club, his role in the title-winning side and his international background would add competition in that position if the agreement is finalised.
Danlad was included in Ghana’s squad for the 2022 World Cup. His possible return would therefore bring back a goalkeeper with previous Kotoko experience and national-team involvement, but the club must still conclude negotiations before announcing the move.
